
Elevating the Ordinary:
Explore artistic ways to create emotive portraiture with a strong narrative foundation. In this portraiture workshop, Sigma ambassador Meg Loeks will discuss creative inspiration and the importance of detail and nuance. Attendees will learn lighting techniques that enhance storytelling by shaping mood and influencing color and clarity. Meg will also discuss the importance of lens choice and creative settings. Explore inspiration, light, and color with Meg to deepen your artistic vision! You’ll shoot alongside her as she covers these techniques. We will finish the workshop with post-processing and how to polish an image from start to finish.
Attendees should bring:
Camera
Lens (preferably 35mm, 50mm, and/or 85mm)
Sigma lenses will be available for attendees to borrow during the workshop.
A laptop is optional.

Meet Meg
Meg Loeks lives in Michigan's Upper Peninsula with her husband and children. She is a fine art and portrait photographer whose nostalgic work centers around the home. In-between photographing her family, she teaches several online and in-person domestic and international workshops. She is honored to be a Sigma Ambassador, Profoto Legend of Light, and 2022 Lightroom Ambassador. Meg is also a volunteer photographer for The Gold Hope Project, a nonprofit organization which gifts families battling pediatric cancer a free photo session.
